Tribute to the Man in the Mirror by Soul Sounds

Hit songs from Michael Jackson's solo career will be featured in A Tribute to Michael with Love presented by Soul Sounds on August 26 at 7.30 p.m. Directed by the charismatic Soundarie David Rodrigo the programme of the leading choral group will include apart from the songs of Michael Jackson's solo career popular songs when Michael was a member of the Jackson 5.

So sit back and enjoy songs like I'll Be There, I Want You Back, ABC, The Love You Save and from Michael's solo career the golden hits Thriller, Billie Jean, Remember the Time, Wanna Be Starting Something, Man in the Mirror, Earth Song to name a few. Jackson's music undoubtedly has been a source of inspiration for generations and will continue to be so for generations to come.

It's good to know that Soul Sounds have decided to widen their repertoire with such contemporary songs that have a worldwide appeal.

Soundarie David is responsible for the arrangements and we are assured of a high standard performance.

Associated with the performance will be the popular Sri Lankan musician Mignonne Fernando and Christopher Prins.

The show will also see a special guest appearance by Dushyanth Weeraman.


The Jazz n' Retro Weeekend

A weekend of music in the captivating streams of Jazz and Retro will be held on August 29-30 at the Bentota Beach Hotel.

On Saturday August 29, the young group Rebels will swing the poolside of the hotel and will be transformed into a hive of activity for the whole of the family which will include food, fun and sports. The Jazz and Retro show will commence at 7.30 p.m. with smooth and exciting sounds from Souled Out and Rebels with guest performance by saxophonist Gavin Senn and drummer Aruna Siriwardhana.

Souled Out a new outfit on the scene comprises Chris Dhason - drums, with Shafi, Sumith, Shean Dharmaratne, Samantha Fonseka and bassist Dulip Gnanakan. 'Sax and Strings' will conclude the weekend Sunday brunch with the grooves of saxophonist Gavin Senn and his Quartet.

Along with music of quality standard will be the cuisne from the Bentota Beach Hotel who is geared to make the weekend a truly memorable one.


Well Mudaliyar.... How?

Today is the final performance of this hilarious satire directed by the well-known theatre personality Jith Peiris. The play was written by E. N. W. Joseph and as history tells us the Mudaliyars were paid government servants who weilded a great deal of influence on the administrative system and socially on people. They were proud of their lineage, this was because they were chosen to these jobs according to their status in society. The cast includes Anuruddha Fernando, Hans Billimoria, Sashi Mendis, Dila Weerasinghe, Sajith Amendra, Ashini Fernando and Brendon Ingram. The play unfolds at Bishop's College Auditorium at 7.30 p.m.


5 Star Explosion

The concert is ready to explode again on August 28, 7.30 pm at the BMICH, featuring Annesley, Indrani, Mignonne, Sunil and Rajiv.

Mignonne will sing her hits Mangala Mohotha, Jeevithaye Vasanthaye while Sunil will make his entry on stage in a vintage car with a bunch of beatiful lasses.
