Marina introduces coconut oil products

Marina brand refined coconut oil and cooking oil was launched by Cherubium Lanka Company Ltd, a company under the umbrella of NMK Group.

Produced locally at the latest state of the art factory adopting the physical refining process ie vapour and vacuum systems , helps to maintain hygiene while removing the acid and smell to enhance the taste of food. ?Consumers used to buy the chemically produced oils as they did not have an opportunity to purchase the physically refined coconut oil. We at Cherubium Lanka filled the void by producing and introducing physically refined coconut and cooking oil, said Managing Director NMK Group of Companies N.M. Manjula Narayana.

He said that the medium chain fatty acid composition of the natural refined coconut oil yields a low calorie fat which helps to stimulate human metabolism and increases the energy levels its inherent antimicrobial properties help maintain the body's natural immune system. Cooking oil is produced locally from refined palm olein and its high temperature stability makes it the ideal choice for repeated deep frying and shallow frying. Cherubium Lanka has also launched a number of products for bakery, confectionery and hotel segments under the trade name of Marina which includes Margarine, bread fat, pan lubricant, bread compound, icing fat, yeast oil in bulk for industrial applications with value addition for the edible oil industry.

He said the NMK Group would support the government polices. We will bring the latest technology and start manufacturing value added products for the export markets as well as for the domestic market with the support given to the coconut oil industry which helps coconut growers to maintain a stable price.

The group has introduced a number of modern technologies to the packaging industry as well thereby stopping the drain of foreign exchange from the country. The packaging materials introduced by the NMK Group protects the freshness and the quality of the product while offering a greater convenience and flexibility to the businessman as well as the consumer. In addition the packagings displays the local identity.

The Group employs over 400 people while over 1,000 families benefit from the agriculture outgrower scheme. The group exports its products to many countries bringing a large amount of foreign exchange to the country with their expertise in the agro commodity industry.
