Mahapola fair to be relaunched

The Mahapola Educational and Trade Fair will be relaunched in the first week of October in Hambantota district, said Trade, Marketing Development, Co-operatives and Consumer Services Minister Bandula Gunawardena.

"Mahapola Exhibition' was not held for some time due to LTTE threats in the country. Now that terrorism has been completely wiped out, it is time to make the best use of the Mahapola Exhibition in the context of the country's education, he said.

According to the Trade Minister, the income earned by the exhibition will be utilised to develop the school which hosts the event and also to augment the Mahapola Development Fund. The inaugural meeting of the organising committee attended by the representatives of the private, public and co-operative sectors was held last Friday at the Trade Ministry. (LSAW)
