Rtd. War Heroes to cultivate herbs

On the directive of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, the Indigenous
Medicine Ministry has embarked on a program of herbs cultivation for the
welfare and the benefit of retired War Heroes at district level.
Under this project plants, saplings, training and extension services
along with infrastructural facilities would be provided by Ministry.The
herbs harvest will be purchased at a reasonable price by the Ayurvedic
Drugs Corporation.The Minister of Indigenous Medicine Tissa Karalliyadda
revealed these facts at an initial discussion held at the Divisional
Secretariat Medawachchiya recently with regard to the implementation of
the herbs cultivation venture.The President has understood fully the
value of heroic War Heroes who are the guardians of our country. The
President and the Government have conferred the highest honour possible
to them for their great endeavours in the eradication of LTTE terrorism
in Sri Lanka, the Minister emphasised.
He was addressing the gathering of retired War Heroes that the
Government has given top priority for the welfare of the War Heroes and
their families in the spheres of housing, education, health,
self-employment and various beneficiary matters.
The herbs growing program will be commissioned in the village of
Ralapanawa in Medawachchiya electorate covering 30 acres with the
participation of retired members of the Forces in the area.
