Bone marrow transplant
Thirty four year old Mrs. R.K. Shriyani of No. 226, Morayaya North,
Wekandawala, Tangalle is diagnosed with Acute myeloid leukaemia (M-2 sub
type), blood cancer, which had to be treated with bone marrow
transplantation, according to Dr. Upul Ekanayake, Consultant Clinical
Oncologist of the Teaching Hospital, Karapitiya, Galle. The treatment is
available at Apollo Cancer/Specialty Hospital, 320, Mount Road, Chennai,
Tamil Nadu, India and the total treatment cost would be around 55 lakhs
in Sri Lankan rupees.
Any financial assistance to obtain this treatment could be remitted
to A/C No. 9508654 of Bank of Ceylon, Weeraketiya Branch.
O - ve kidney transplant
Twenty-eight-year old B. L. Chaminda is at End Stage kidney failure,
and has been recommended a kidney transplantation for his survival by
Dr. A. L. M. Nazar, Consultant Nephologist of the National Hospital,
Colombo and is on regular haemodialysis.
The surgery will be done free of charge but the expenses for
anti-rejection therapy, custodial solution and investigations have to be
borne by the patient and the cost will be around Rs. 400000.
He is need of financial assistance, contributions may be remitted to
A/c No. 032-2-001-0-0010564 of People's Bank, Uyanwatte, Matara.
Writers' Assn workshop

Under the patronage of Rohana Keerthi Disanayake, Badulla District
Secretary, the Badulla district branch of Sri Lanka Writers' Association
was formed at the Badulla district secretariat recently.
A workshop will be held on August 31 from 9.30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the
auditorium of District Secretariat, Badulla.

The ANCL Hindu Association gifted relief items to the IDPs in
Vavuniya last week.Here the members of the Association hand over
