Changes at the top in final week's voting... Angelo Perera and Indunil Kumara Most Popular Cricketers

CRICKET: The final week's voting on coupon No. 10 in the OBSERVER- MOBITEL Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year 2009 All-Island and Outstation Contest brought in many votes and the positions changed from the voting on coupon No. 9 in both contests. In the All-Island Contest, Peterite cricketer Angelo Perera polled in a record 23,754 votes to have a big total of 37,456 votes and jumped into top position from the third place he held in the penultimate voting list. In count number 9. Angelo Perera was placed third with 13,702 votes. Naveen Kavikara of D.S. Senanayake College who seemed to be involved in a home-and-home race with his schoolmate Charith Jayampathi for top place dropped down to second spot at the end and he too had many votes from the last coupon. Kavikara finally totalled 25,423 votes, getting 10,212 votes from coupon No. 10.

Charith Jayampathi (D.S. Senanayake College) who was second in the penultimate count, dropped down to third position at the end with 17,747 votes. He received 2,684 votes from coupon No.10. There were no changes in the other position - that's from No. 4 to Number 10 in the All-Island Contest.

In the Outstation Contest too there was a change for the top position with S. H. Indunil Kumara of Devapathiraja Vidyalaya who was second in the penultimate week's voting, edging out last week's leader K. Wickremarachchi of Gamini MMV, Bentota into second position. S. H. Indunil Kumara in coming on top had collected 37,036 votes and in a record haul in the final week's voting, he polled 21,761 votes to have that eye- catching figure of 37,036 votes at the end of the contest.So, S.H. Indunil Kumara of Ratgama is the winner of the Outstation Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year while last week's leader K. Wickremarachchi of Gamini MMV. Bentota is second with 22,022 votes.

There were no changes in the positions from No. 3 to No. 10 from last week's voting. The only changes were S. H. Indunil Kumara taking the top berth from number two position and Krishan Wickremarachchi dropping down to second spot from the top berth he occupied in the penultimate week's voting.
