Trinity enters quarter-final of u 16 tourney

CRICKET: Trinity College, Kandy, scored a comfortable 136 run win over Thurstan College to enter the quarter-finals of the all-island schools under 16 division one cricket tournament match played at Police grounds, Kandy.

Trinity College, taking first strike, scored 226 all out off 49.2 overs. When Thurstan batted they were off to a poor start losing their first wicket at 5 runs and they never recovered from it and folded up for 90 in 34.3 overs. Tissa Sanjeewa 4 for 20 and Janishka Premasinghe 3 for 29 did the damage.

Trinity College: 226 all out in 47.2 overs (Niroshan Dickwella 63, Janishka Premasinghe 24, Kavinda Jayasuriya 10, Hashan Wanniarachchi 24, Akila Jayasundera 36, K. Athugoda 11, Sanjeewa Bandara 19, M. H. M. Shameer 15, Pabodha Arthavidu 2 for 44, Theekshana Kadiragonne 2 for 33, Sachith Wijesinghe 2 for 40).

Thurstan College: 90 all out in 34.3 overs (Pabodha Arthavidu 23, S. Wijesinghe 12, Janishka Premasinghe 3 for 29, Tissa Sanjeewa 4 for 20).
