SLT empowers professionalism
Sri Lanka Telecom the integrated telecommunications service provider
was the Sponsor and the total communication solutions provider for
CounterPoint 2009, a unique series of presentations organized by the
Postgraduate Institute of Management Alumni (PIMA), in an endeavour to
enhance the standards of professionalism amongst its members as well as
other professionals in the country. The conference which ran on the
theme of "Winning Military Strategies: Lessons for Managers was held on
21st August at the Hilton Colombo, with General Sarath Fonseka, Chief of
Defence Staff as the Keynote speaker.
Organised by PIMA, CounterPoint was conducted as part of its
Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programmes offered to
professionals. It facilitates the sharing of knowledge by top corporate
leaders for the benefit of members and other professionals in addition
to providing valuable networking opportunities. General Sarath Fonseka
gave a presentation on the military strategies that have more than
proved their success in the recent past. His address was followed by a
panel discussion between outstanding and renowned management experts who
related these strategies to organizational contexts and thus provided
their valuable insights on how they could be applied to the corporate
world.
Sri Lanka Telecom, being the country's number one telecommunication
service provider conveyed their pride and pleasure in working with PIMA,
in line with one of the Company's corporate responsibility endeavours -
empowering professionalism.

CounterPoint 2009 comprised of approximately 300 participants
encompassing senior representatives of organizations such as Managing
Directors, Chief Executive Officers, Directors as well as Senior
Managers. The proceeds from the event will go towards an identified
welfare project for the armed forces.
