Plantations Ministry launch program

The Plantations Ministry has launched a series of programs to improve the living standards of the estate labour under the patronage of Planation Industries Minister D.M. Jayaratne. During his recent inspection of Elpitiya Plantation Estates, the Minister declared open a social development centre and laid the foundation for a Children's Development Centre.

A sum of Rs. 250 million has been earmarked for social development and infrastructure facilities in 31 estates in Galle district. Plantations Ministry Additional Secretary Wimal Jayawardena and Upali Dissanayaka, Plantations Development Director Lal Ravindra Perera and Elpitiya Plantation CEO Tony Gunawardena also participated.
