CIMA Business Leaders Summit in October
The CIMA 2009 Business Leaders Summit will be held at the Cinnamon
Grand Colombo on 05 and 06 October 2009.
The two-day flagship event in the CIMA calendar is expected to
attract over 400 diverse groups of corporates, business leaders and
professionals.
Given the recent end to the separatist war the conference theme 'the
challenge - Now and Ahead' will focus on the macro economic
opportunities and challenges posed to the current business environment.
Apart from the effects of the world recession we have experienced the
impact of 30 years of conflict, devastation and era of terror.
As the world is seeing signs of recovery, Sri Lanka has turned a new
page in history. This historic opportunity is not without challenges and
it is highly relevant in today's context.
This momentous event is affirmed to feature eminent speakers who have
specialized and gained world recognition in their respective fields of
specialisation.
It is believed that this summit will not only add great value to the
CIMA fraternity but will also provide an excellent learning opportunity
to the business fraternity in our nation.
The Key note speaker at the inauguration of the summit will be Prof.
J. D. Agarwal, is the Professor of Finance and Chairman, Indian
Institute of Finance and the Editor-in-Chief of Finance India whilst the
Technical Session keynote speaker will be Charles Tilley, CEO, CIMA.
Papers at the technical sessions will be presented by Deshamanya
Lalith de Mel, Chairman Hemas Holdings and 3 overseas speakers Ms
Farzana Haque, Business Head - Large Accounts SBU at TCS, India, Ms
Boonsiri Somchit-Ong, Vice President Finance, Advanced Micro Devices
Global Services (M) Sdn Bhd, Malaysia and Dr. Dieter Kotte, CEO &
Partner, Causal Impact; CEO Partner and co founder of Joint Business
Research Group in Germany.
Deshamanya Lalith de Mel, Chairman Hemas Holdings, Sri Lanka will
speak on the Challenge of public sector, private sector link to economic
growth.
He would also discuss the difficult questions relate to what
facilitates growth and what impedes growth.
The focus of his paper is to dissect the relationship between the
private sector and the public sector so as to understand what impacts on
growth, both in a positive and in a negative manner.Ms Farzana Haque,
Business Head - Large Accounts SBU at TCS, India will address the
audience on Business World circa 2010: Game Changing Parameters and will
discuss how the new world order for business will evolve who and what
will be the game changers in this Business scenario and what leaders
would have to do adapt to these.
She will draw on personal experience and give insights of how to
handle downturn and turn it to an opportunity for growth and will talk
of how to work in an interconnected, interdependent business world, yet
which is very specific to the cultures of the land you operate.
She would also share experience where business models like control
and command do not work and discuss the various facets of organic and
inorganic growth and how integration is a critical decision parameter
for a company to think even before it looks at a potential acquisition.
