Key LTTE documents unearthed

Several documents that shed light on the clandestine activities of the LTTE organisation have been unearthed from the Toppigala and Valachchenai areas following the arrest of an LTTE cadre who tipped off the police last week.

Senior DIG, Western Province Nimal Mediweka told the "Sunday Observer" that 21 documents relating to two banks along with the names of 10,000 persons trained by the LTTE and translations of several foreign books and magazines were recovered by Sub Inspector Wijeratne and a team of police officers of the Vavuniya Terrorist Investigating Unit.

Senior DIG Mediweka said the Jones magazine, a monthly publication in London based intelligence affairs and stamp sized photographs of LTTE trained cadres and bank account numbers of the LTTE organisation and 82 translations of foreign books buried in the Toppigala Narakamulla areas were unearthed.

The other items recovered included a video deck, a remote controller, and land deeds and documents relating to transactions between the LTTE and the business community.
