Trinity by an innings

Trinity College opened their inter school cricket season on a winning role when they cruised to an innings and 91 runs win over Sri Rahula College, Katugastota in their inter school cricket game which concluded at the Asgiriya stadium in Kandy yesterday. In reply to Trinity's first innings total of 224 for 9 declared they bowled their opponents twice yesterday on a wicket which was helpful to spinners. One of the reasons for the batting debacle of Sri Rahula was that they were playing on unaccustomed turf.

Off spinner Suresh Wickrema was vertually unplayable taking a match bag of 8 for 26. In fact when Sri Rahula were 78 for 5 in their first innings and appeared to avert the follow on it was Suresh Wickrema who brought about an unexpected collapse. Others to excel with the ball were medium pacer Chinthaka Gokula 3 for 0.

Trinity College 224 for 9 decl.

Sri Rahula College 103 all out in 49.3 overs.

Sadun Dilhan 19, Amith Tillekeratne 30 Nuwan Perera 16, Rushan Jaleel 2 for 19, Suresh Wickrema 5 for 15) and 30 (Suresh Wickrema 3 for 11, Kavinda Jayasuriya 2 for 3 Chinthaka Gokula 3 for 0, Sanjeewa Bandara 2 for 2).
