UPFA takes early lead
The United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) is
heading for another landslide victory, following the Southern Provincial
Council elections held yesterday. The early postal voting and electoral
division results released at the time of going to press indicated that
the UPFA would retain power at the Southern Provincial Council with an
absolute majority.

President flags off Bunkering Facility, Tank Farm project
President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Wednesday inaugurated
a fully-fledged Bunkering facility and a Tank Farm project to be
constructed at Hambantota Port with 14 tanks. The total cost of the
project will be US$ 76,581,774.
