The World Children's Day was celebrated on October 1. The BAM
Holdings Ltd. lit up the lives of seven young children hailing from the
localities of their operational centres/factories.
These children were presented with scholarships by way of guaranteed
return bank accounts where each child is a recipient of approximately Rs.
250,000 for their educational purposes usable when they attain 18 years.
The total value of the above investment was Rs. 1.7 million.
The significance of this event was that all these children have lost
their fathers as they sacrificed their lives for the country and for us
by serving in the security forces fighting against terrorism. One of the
BAM group's main philosophies is 'Children are the future'. Based on
this philosophy, every year a significant amount of funds are spent for
the welfare of children both from within the organization's workers and
outside. The lucky recipients were, Ranusha Malki Lokuliyana - Amugoda,
Naurunnage Chamika Hirana - Dickwella, Nimasha Hansani Premachandra -
Padaviya, Mahamada Kalapuwage Nishara Srimali - Ranna, Marasinghe Jedige
Sachin Dishan Marasinghe - Ranna, Vindaya Rochani Dharmakeerthi - Alawwa
and Sunudu Chethana Dissanayaka - Beliattha.
