Millakande receives ISO 22000 standard

Millakande Estate of Horana Plantations PLC was awarded the ISO 22000:2005 S.G.S. certification for manufacture of black tea which meets internationally recognized hygiene standards for food manufacture and processes.

The drive to achieve ISO:22000 at Millakande Estate in Kalutara District was spearheaded by Manager Amal Fernando. Millakande Estate undertake manufacturing bought crop in addition to estate crop and produce high quality tea and it is consistently ranked among the best low grown teas at the auctions.

Horana Plantations PLC is in the process of upgrading all its upcountry and low country tea factories to ISO:22000 and hopes to achieve certification on at least two more factories in the near future.
