What have you guys and girls been up to? :
We have been getting an enormous pile of mail and pictures that we
get to publish only a few at a time. Don't worry. All who are within the
stipulated age group of 18 to 25 would be in, no doubt. We have
considered some applicants who are a few years above the line, say up to
the age of 29, yes. But those below the age of 18 will not be
accommodated as a matter of policy. We will publish the pictures of all
the members in the future. Just look out.
Now there is something exciting for you to do. If you are a great
story-teller we will appreciate your flair. We have these two pages open
for you to showcase your talent in writing and photography. Remember
emailing will make life easy for me. But if all you do is hand write on
paper and snail mailing, we are compelled to entertain your work if it's
a great story.
But in this twenty first century where Sri Lanka enjoys the most
advanced communication technology at your fingertips, do make an effort
to be computer savvy. You young people should count internet your medium
and drive it forward.
Do send us some pictures and a little story about your village. Say
for instance, if you make inquiries and find out how your village happen
to be named, and about any historical incident that took place there or
a famous person or persons who lived there, do send in the interesting
story to us.
Pictures of scenic places, famous old buildings and people who have
made your village famous, will definitely add value to your story. If
your story is good we will edit and publish it in simple English in your
name.Remember we were talking about values, now apply being honest when
you write your story. Write it yourself. Your personality is there in
everything you do. Remember that. Even if you consider somebody else
better than you, in your own estimation, remember each one is different
and the beauty lies in being different.
So make everything you write have your own style and be genuine with
your thinking. You don't have to impress. Just be you. That is
impressive enough. In fact a wiseman said, simplicity is the most
impressive form of behaviour that stands out among the rest.
