Sampath Sanhinda gives priority to senior citizens

The senior citizens of the country who are enjoying retirement after doing a yeomen service to the nation be it state or private are hit with skyrocketing cost of living and reducing interest rates.

The Senior citizens who have deposited their money in a Sampath Sanhinda saver account are well looked after as Sampath Bank understands the value of them, said AGM Marketing and Deposits Tharaka Ranwala.

The two main priorities of our senior citizens is money to purchase the medicine and little gifts for their grand children, this was revealed by a research undertaken by Sampath Bank prior to the launch of Sampath Sanhinda Saver.

Therefore, the Sampath Bank decided to pay the interest twice a month and most importantly senior citizens get 4% more than the normal savings account interest if they maintain a balance of more than Rs. 10,000. Ranwala said, that by paying interest twice a month we bring a smile to their faces as they can buy a toy or some sweets for their grand children for a reasonable price.

In addition for customers who maintain an average balance of more than Rs. 50,000 Sampath Bank together with Asiri Hospitals offer a free annual medical investigation.

The senior citizens are given a branded pass book and Visa ATM card, priority service at the branches, foreign and local tours to selected customers and discounts from Vision Care, Gabo Travel.

Walkers Tours, John Keells Hotels, DSI. In addition customers can enjoy special discounts offered in the broacher issued by the card centre.

Another unique feature offered by Sampath Bank is the doorstep banking facility at a 50% discount, At present this service can only be enjoyed by customers residing within Colombo one to sixteeen. Ranwala said, that plans are under way to expand this service to cover the Colombo suburbs as well in the near future.

Most importantly there is a annual draw where the prizes include five overseas trips and 20 local tours to the winners.

He said that if the account is in US dollars an additional interest of 0.5% will be paid.

He said any senior citizen who is over 50 years can open a Sampath Sanhinda Saver account and enjoy all the facilities and benefits.
