Rain saves Annites

Rain prevented Kingswood College from scoring their first outright win for the season when they were held to a draw by St. Annes College, Karunegala in their schools under 19 cricket tournament match concluded at the University ground, Peradeniya.

The Annites were set a victory target of 184 runs in 46 overs were struggling at 70 for 6 in 26 overs when rain stopped play early. Kingswood 138 all out in 45.4 overs (Ushan Wickremasinghe 25, Lakshitha Madushan 27, U. S. Rabel 18, Shalika Walisundera 16, Udara Hettige 13, Chanaka Silva 3 for 20, Marril Joseph 3 for 37) and 117 for 7 decl. in 37 overs (Umesh Rabel 27, Udara Hettige 19, Ushan Wickremasinghe 18, Lahiru Gannoruwa 12 not out, Merril Joseph 3 for 35).

St. Annes 69 all out in 33 overs (Nishan Ashok 22, Subodha Premaratne 3 for 26, Ushan Wickremasinghe 3 for 9, Lakshitha Madhushan 2 for 12) 70 for 6 in 26 overs (Nishan Ashok 14, S. Kumarasinghe 18, Y. Prank 15, Ushan Wickremasinghe 3 for 20, C. Gunasekera 3 for 20).
