Douglas and Sons (Pvt) Ltd (DSL), last week entered into a strategic partnership with Sri Lanka's premier motoring club, the Automobile Association of Ceylon (AAC) at a ceremony held in Colombo. DSL, Chairman and Managing Director, Saroj Perera signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on behalf of DSL, while President, AAC Dhammika Attygala signed on behalf of the AAC.

Speaking on the occasion, AAC President Attygala said the main objective of signing an MoU is to expand services to its 6000 strong membership by providing with a 24 hour breakdown service, technical advice and assistance, free legal defence service, discount on auto parts and tyres and also many more benefits including emergency road side assistance, towing facilities and the provision of education to motorists.

"In addition, we have planned to introduce many more welfare and recreational facilities to our members and also to provide the services of a holiday bungalow in Nuwara Eliya." The AAC President also invited the motoring public to be members of the AAC and receive more benefits to be introduced in the coming months.

He further said, the AAC is an affiliate member of the Federation International De Automobile since 1931 and the members could also receive reciprocal benefits from nearly 160 clubs, which are spread over 120 countries. AAC, Executive official Anton Kandiah said the AAC is the sole authority to issue international driving licences.

DSL, Chairman, Saroj Perera said his company is happy to be a partner of the AAC and hope to provide an excellent service to the motoring public in the country.

He also said the company will celebrate its 23rd anniversary next month and has a 1500 strong dealer network throughout the country.

"In addition, we are the manufacturer and supplier of soft toys for the international market and has propelled itself up the global soft toy supply chain by specializing in an innovative range of fully organic soft toys catering to some of the world top-notch brands including Marks and Spencer, Harrods and Hamleys," he added.
