The All Ceylon Hindu Congress (Federation of Hindu Religious
Associations and Trust in Sri Lanka) has lauded President Mahinda
Rajapaksa for expediting the resettlement process of Internally
Displaced Persons (IDPs) and providing facilities for the IDPs who have
been already resettled in their original places and opening the A-9
highway.
General Secretary of the All Ceylon Hindu Congress (ACHC) Kandiah
Neelakandan told the Sunday Observer that the All Ceylon Hindu Congress,
the Supreme body of Hindu religious bodies in the island, was extremely
delighted over the speedy action taken by President Rajapaksa to
resettle the IDPs from the IDP centres in the Wanni. “We are acutely
aware of the measures taken by the Government already to resettle the
IDPs in their original places.
The Government is also obliged to the request made by the All Ceylon
Hindu Congress to resettle the Hindu priests in the areas in the Wanni”.
While expediting the process to resettle the IDPs, the All Ceylon Hindu
Congress appreciates the timely moves taken by the Government to provide
them with educational facilities in Colombo”, Neelakandan said.
