Info on Local Govt officials to be updated

The Local Government and Provincial Council Ministry is engaged in the process of collecting the names and telephone numbers of the Chiefs of Local Government Institutions as a means of regulating the smooth functions of those institutions.

The Ministry has informed the relevant Local Government Authorities to notify the Ministry immediately if any changes take place in the interim in the names and telephone numbers of Municipal Councillor, Deputy Municipal Councillor, Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman, Deputy Chairman and other prominent positions in the authority.

An information system consisting of the names and telephone numbers of the heads of the Local Government bodies will be prepared by the Ministry.

As some of the Chiefs of Local Government Institutions have now been elected to Provincial Councils and various corporations, amending the previous information system has become crucial.
