TNA to decide on talks with UPFA
by Ananth PALAKIDNAR
The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) will meet tomorrow to discuss the
invitation extended by the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) for
talks over the forthcoming Presidential polls, according to TNA
Parliamentarian Suresh K. Premachandran.
Premachandran told the Sunday Observer that the UPFA General
Secretary and Minister of Education Susil Premajayantha has extended an
invitation to the TNA for talks.
“We received the UPFA General Secretary’s letter on Thursday.
However, we will discuss the issues with the party at the discussion
with our members tomorrow”, Premachandran said.
He said that the TNA would not rush into a decision and there was a
long way to go before reaching any decision on the TNA stance.
“We have to look into so many things. First of all the plight of our
people. The humanitarian aspects should be addressed. Thereafter the
political issues. Therefore, we will discuss matters and enlighten the
UPFA on our expectations before we reach any decision”, Premachandran
said.
He said that they have not fixed any particular date or time for the
meeting with the UPFA.
Following our meeting tomorrow, we will decide on our talks with the
UPFA.
