EPDP to support President

The Eelam People’s Democratic Party (EPDP) has decided to support President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the forthcoming Presidential poll.

EPDP General Secretary and Minister of Social Services Douglas Devananda told a media briefing in Colombo on Friday that the party will support President Rajapaksa at the Presidential poll. Minister Devananda elaborating on his party’s decision said that his party was confident the Rajapaksa Government would go beyond the 13th Amendment and reach a solution to the ethnic crisis.

“We trust President Rajapaksa. We also expect him to settle the ethnic issue amicably. “We have placed a ten-point agenda before President Rajapaksa based on the welfare and the political aspirations of our people”, he said. He said that once the Presidential poll was over, the Parliamentary polls would follow.
