NDB wins Silver Award at Effies 2009
NDB Bank won the Silver Award in the Financial Services category; for
the Badu Malla campaign carried out in 2008 for its creative
effectiveness.
This year's Effie's had 24 categories open for awards and nominations
were received for 15 categories; out of which only 2 Silver Awards were
presented.
The Effie Award's recognize and pay tribute to the most effective
marketing communications practices in the world. There are 40 national
Effie Award programmes worldwide, 3 regional programmes and the Global
Effie Award.
The Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) in partnership with Sri
Lanka's Advertising body the 4A's held the Effie Awards in Sri Lanka
this year, honouring the most significant achievements in marketing
communications and the idea that worked.
This achievement is a result of an integrated campaign conducted in
collaboration with Ogilvy Advertising and ground activations; supported
by a tremendous contribution made by all functions / departments of the
Bank. Commenting on this award, Indrajit Wickramasingha, Vice President
Retail Banking and Marketing stated, 'at NDB Bank we believe in changing
lives everyday and this promotion offered us an opportunity to make a
difference in customers life, through a chance to win household
groceries for a period of six months'. He further stated that 'NDB Bank
is proud to have received this award, and was able to do so by offering
this innovative yet timely and relevant promotion to the consumer in the
form of the Badu Malla campaign. We believe this was a key driver for
its success'.
