Tharindu century as Baduraliya battle to stave off innings defeat

CRICKET: Opener Tharindu Attanayake hit a fighting century as Baduraliya CC battled hard to avoid an innings defeat at the hands of table leaders Chilaw Marians SC on the second day of their SLC Premier League cricket tournament Tier ‘A’ match which continued at Katunayake yesterday.

Baduraliya CC: 69 and 284 for 5 (D. Vitharana 41, T. Attanayake 113, V. Subramaniam 64, S. Silva 43 n.o, D. Hettiarachchi 3 for 136).

Chilaw Marians SC: 359 (M. Siriwardena 82, N. Perera 51, H. Cooray 89, G. Wijekoon 39, J. Gunaratne 46, A. Prasad 3 for 87, H. Silva 2 for 59, N. Bandaratilleke 2 for 42).

NCC set for outright win

The pace spin combination of Kosala Kulasekera and Chanaka Komasaru shared seven wickets between them as NCC put themselves in contention for an outright victory over Bloomfield on the second day of their SLC Premier League cricket tournament Tier ‘A’ match which continued at Reid Avenue yesterday.

Bloomfield: 219 and 121 for 9 (S. Randiv 66 n.o, K. Kulasekera 4 for 49, C. Komasaru 3 for 51).

NCC: 236 (Y. de Silva 29, S. Pussegolla 54, C. Wijesinghe 22, A. Perera 45, T. Gamage 3 for 45, S. Randiv 4 for 81, T. Lakshitha 3 for 48).

Moors SC 211/4

Two fighting half centuries from Damitha Hunukumbura (78) and Shantha Kalawitigoda (86) helped Moors SC reach a respectable 211 for 4 in their second innings on the second day of their SLC Premier League cricket tournament Tier ‘A’ match which continued at Havelock Park yesterday.

Colts CC: 411.

Ragama take 1st innings lead

Former Sri Lanka youth player Nizam Mazahir and skipper Sameera de Zoysa struck two fighting half centuries as Ragama CC snatched a close first innings lead over CCC on the second day of their SLC Premier League cricket tournament Tier ‘A’ match which continued at Maitland Place yesterday.

CCC: 178 and 201 (C. Fernando 38, J. Mubarak 110, N. Premaratne 4 for 31, U. Indrasiri 2 for 47, M. Bandara 3 for 45).

Ragama CC: 190 (N. Mazahir 52, S. de Zoysa 55, S. Boralessa 3 for 36, S. Pathirana 4 for 53, J. Mubarak 2 for 28).

Off spinner Sachithra Senanayake captured six wickets for 79 to help the SSC snatch a close first innings lead over Sri Lanka Army SC on the second day of their SLC Premier League cricket tournament Tier ‘A’ match which continued at Maitland Place yesterday.

SSC: 216 and 185 for 3 (T. Paranavithana 74, D. Karunaratne 64, K. Silva 32 n.o, S. Prasanna 3 for 60).

Army SC: 209 (P. Tharaka 29, S. Prasanna 30, C. Prasad 25, D. Indika 74 n.o, M. Fernando 3 for 42, S. Senanayake 6 for 79).

Serasinghe ton for Tamil Union

Middle order batsman Sachithra Serasinghe hit a magnificent century and leg spinner Jeevan Mendis snapped up three wickets as Tamil Union took a good first innings lead over Saracens SC on the second day of their SLC Premier League cricket tournament Tier ‘A’ match which continued at the P. Saravanamuttu Stadium (Oval) yesterday.

Tamil Union: 319 (S. Fernando 22, A. Priyanjan 75, S. Serasinghe 126, P. Seneviratne 37, R. Wimaladharma 8 for 103) and 33 for no loss

Saracens SC: 256 (N. Abeyratne 24, R. Rathika 32, S. Dushantha 49, D. Rathika 84, C. Sumathipala 2 for 23, J. Mendis 3 for 76).
