More ADB funds for North, East
The Sri Lankan economy recorded a 4.5% growth
rate this year against 3.5% forecast by the IMF, Asian Development
Bank said last week. Addressing the media ADB country director
Richard Vokes said that the recovery of the global economy together
with new opportunities in the post-war era Sri Lankan economy
expects a 6% growth rate in the next year.

CSE creates records
The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) marked new
records in both indices All Share Price Index (ASPI) and Milanka
Price Index (MPI) on December 21. The ASPI reached 3,219.87 up by
0.97% and MPI reached 3,6663.45 up by 0.91%. The days turnover
topped Rs. 384.9 million.

World Bank approves US$ 77m package
The World Bank approved a US$77 million package
for Sri Lanka, designed to support the return of 100,000 Internally
Displaced Persons (IDPs) to their places of origin in the Northern
Province and to restore their livelihoods destroyed by three decades
of civil war.
