Media team of 30 for Games

MEDIA TEAM: Thirty member electronic and print media team will cover
the 11th edition of the South Asian Games to be held in Dhaka,
Bangladesh from January 29 to February 9 will receive a big boost from
Sri Lanka Telecom who have come forward to sponsor them and provide all
facilities, said Buddhika Iddamalgoda, the Media co-ordinator of
National Olympic Committee.
Due to National Olympic Committee's great effort, sponsorship has
been found and this is the largest ever media team to go over to cover
an international meet. In addition to few senior media personnel, young
and up and coming media men are included in the crew and they are
certain to gain much experience from this event. Buddhika , a former
Royal College and University of Colombo cricketer and 'spiker' has been
the media co- ordinator of the NOC since 1996 and holds a diploma in
journalism. Buddhika, by profession, is a Attorney-at-Law. He added that
wide coverage will be on offer for all Sri Lankan competitors who will
be seen in action.
All events in which Sri Lankan contingent expected to participate
will be telecast from Rupavahini, ITN, Channel Eye, Sirasa, Derana, MTV,
Swarnavahini and Siyatha.
Buddhika also said that all Sri Lankan gold medal winners will be
interviewed immediately after respective events and will be on 'live'
telecast from all TV channels. Opening and closing ceremonies will also
be highlighted.
