Joes rout Wesley for seasons fourth victory

CRICKET: St. Joseph's College cruised to a morale boosting ten wicket outright victory over Wesley College with a session to spare in their annual inter school under 19 cricket tournament match which concluded at Darley Road yesterday.

Their success which was in fact the fourth outright win for the current season had a great amount of significance considering the fact that they last defeated the Wesleyites way back in 1994 at this same venue under the captaincy of Peter Harmer.

Wesley College were skittled out for a paltry 103 runs in their second innings with Supechala Jayatilleke, Dinal Fonseka and skipper Dinal Dhambarage causing most of the damage.

Earlier the Joes went on to take a first innings lead of 85 runs with all rounder Rosco Thatill contributing a useful knock of 43 runs. This win will also give St. Joseph's College a great amount of confidence ahead of their 113th annual encounter against Royal College which will be worked off this weekend at Reid Avenue.
