Training for over 35,000 youth

The National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority (NAITA)
will recruit a record 35,000 youth for vocational career apprenticeship
training programs during 2010.
According to available statistics, nearly 30,000 youth in the country
are undergoing various vocational training programs at 23 island-wide
NAITA training centres; thereafter they will receive training at State
and mercantile sector establishments.
Addressing a media briefing, NAITA Chairman Amal Senadhilankara said
their main objective is to provide vocational and technical training to
youth to enable them to acquire employable skills through highly
formulated skills programs.
He said nearly 150 craft training courses are currently conducted
under 22 vocational fields and applicants could apply for any course
according to their educational qualifications.
The NAITA Chairman also called upon all youth who are between 16 to
35 years of age to send their applications to undergo apprenticeship
vocational training courses which will begin shortly. |
