Uyanwatte Stadium Motorized roller back in action

CRICKET: Cricketers at the Uyanwatte Stadium will breathe a sigh of relief as the motorized roller at the ground has at last been repaired. This roller was out of action since 2005 and the cricketers had a trying time getting the manual rollers on the job for the last four years.

The man behind the move for the repairs on the motorized roller is Sri Lanka Cricket’s Matara District coach Prasanna Galappaththi. The Uyanwatte Stadium is the only ground that has a turf wicket in the Matara District and it is maintained by the Matara Municipal Council.

It is the home turf of Matara Sports Club, Old Servatians Sports Club and three schools - Rahula College, St. Thomas’ Matara and St. Servatius’ College also use the turf wicket for their matches.
