President assured of resounding victory
* Voters eagerly await polling day

President Mahinda Rajapaksa would continue to be in the saddle after
the presidential election on Tuesday. Come rain or sunshine nothing can
stop the President from wearing the ‘crown’ for a second term in office.
The President has spared no pains to earn the gratitude of the people
who love and praise him for eradicating the menace of terrorism that
plagued this country for nearly three decades. Citizens of any country
wish to live in peace and harmony, free from fear and want and President
Rajapaksa lived up to their expectations with his exemplary leadership.
What President Rajapaksa has achieved has not been equalled by Prime
Ministers or Presidents who governed the country since independence.
The people have reposed utmost faith in the President who has set in
motion several projects for the growth of the economy and the
development of the country and his sole goal is to lead his flock into
the promised land as the Biblical quotation goes.
The President’s charisma, devotion and unflinching dedication to a
cause won the hearts of people from all walks of life. The sinister
campaigns with the ‘blessings’ of certain countries in the West and
INGOs cannot thwart President Rajapaksa being re-elected as President.
Despite battling the most ruthless terror outfit in the world, the
President did not abandon development activities. Despite allocating a
colossal sum for the battle against terror, he launched mega development
projects such as Mattala International Airport, Hambantota harbour and
four other ports including Oluvil and several irrigation projects
including the Moragahakanda reservoir, road development projects - the
Southern Expressway and many power generating projects at Upper Kotmale,
Norochcholai and Kerawalapitiya.
Hence, it is unequivocally clear that President Rajapaksa would win a
fresh and bigger mandate again from the people to take Sri Lanka to
greater heights.
The masses have clearly identified him as the only leader who could
take the country forward and usher economic prosperity as well, just as
much as he brought peace to the country.
This was manifest by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), upgrading
Sri Lanka’s country status from lower income group to middle income.
This was after Sri Lanka’s per capita income doubled from USD 1,000 to
USD 2,000 during the past four years. President Rajapaksa’s aim is to
double it to USD 4,000 during his second term.
The people, no doubt, will show their profound gratitude to the
President.
