Platonic?

Where do we stand? That’s the question that crosses my mind every time I think of you. Would it have been easier on me if we had a fight? Well I guess we sort of did, via SMS. Why is it so hard for a man to let go of love, that he would sacrifice friendship for it and why is it so hard for a woman to give up friendship, that she would even consider risking her principles, beats me.

I have told you time and time again that friendship is the best I could give you. But you wanted more. You just can’t comprehend love devoid of sexual or romantic desires can you?

Over the few weeks we have known each other I have grown to love you as a man, a friend, a brother even a son but above all as a fellow human being. I cannot tell you how glad I am that men like you still exist on earth and how honoured I am to have ever met you.

It is hard enough to find sensitive men, but sensitive men who are not ashamed of their sensitivity is even rarer. All this came totally out of the blue. It made me realize that you have so much love in your heart. I know you have heard all this before, but I say it again and I am never ashamed of it.

The love I felt, feel and will feel for you is nowhere near the naïve emotions driven by romance or sexual desire. Being a woman, it is singularly the most platonic feeling I ever felt for a man. By no means are my feelings tainted by such immature emotions. I know you hate the adjectives. But if you ever knew how much I love you, maybe you wouldn’t care much about the adjectives. But then again you said that you don’t need love from anyone.

Love Lines

The pledge
For better or worse
In sickness in health
We’ll be together
Our promise is this.

When coins are less
And needs are great
Our smiles will be
Our constant wealth.

When others naive
Cause us pain
Our gentle words
Will keep up the shine.

When hopes shatter
Our dreams flutter
We’ll build together
Our lives much better.

In the eve of life
Our strength deprived
We’ll treasure our life
Together, till the day we die.
