Measures to control A/H1N1

The Health Ministry has announced that although the A/H1N1 epidemic has been controlled in the country to a great extent, the Government ordered over 350,000 A/H1N1 vaccine vials through the World Health Organisation (WHO) to eliminate the disease completely.

The A/H1N1 vaccines are expected to be brought to the country from Australia during the early part of February under the approval of the WHO.

The Chief of the Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry Dr. Paba Palihawadana told the Sunday Observer that although a large number of A/H1N1 cases were reported during the past two months, it has been sharply reduced at present due to numerous elimination programs launched by area health officials and other relevant authorities.
