Kalani Wehihena - a hat-trick of wins gets her U. 19 champion
athlete’s award

ATHLETICS: Kalani Wehihena of Yashodara House who won the 100 metres
event for girls under 19-plus two other events - 200 metres and long
jump was adjudged the champion athlete at the Mahamaya College, at the
inter-house athletic meet of Mahamaya College, Kandy.
Besides winning the 100 metres, 200 metres and long jump events in
her age group she looked an outstanding champion with her well planned
running at the meet. There were two girls - Danushka Warshamana of
Sangamitta House and Niluka Mortimore of Prajapathi House who were
picked as joint runners-up in the under-19 age group.The inter-house
championship was won by Sangamitta House who collected 276 points while
Maya House came a close second with 273 points and Prajapathi House came
third with 231 and Yashodara House were fourth with 199 points.
The under-13 champion was Ashani Subasinghe of Maya House while
Methma Athauda of Sangamitta House was runner-up. The under-15 champion
was Lavangi Mahalekam of Maya House with Sashika Jayasekera of
Prajapathi House as runner-up. There was a tie-up as joint champions in
the under-17 age group with Akshana Maralanda of Maya House and Hansanie
Tennakoon of Sangamitta House. The under-21 champion was Charmalka
Anandagoda of Maya House while Sakuli Silva of Prajapathi House was the
runner-up.
