Rural athlete Pathirana shows much promise

ATHLETICS: Rural athlete R. P. Chinthanka Niroshan Pathirana of Kolomgoda Maha Vidyalaya did well to win two golds at the Chennai-Sri Lanka duel track and field meet held recently in Chennai, India. He shows much promise for the future. Pathirana won top place in the Discus Throw and Javelin events. He showed his prowess at the last youth Games in Sri Lanka where he came first in the Putt Shot event and was placed second in Throwing the Discus event in the under 20 age group.

Pathirana is 19 years old and shows a lot of talent and if guided on the correct lines, he can turn out to be a fine prospect for Sri Lanka in the future.
