Anushka first to take 100 wickets

CRICKET: Left-arm spinner Anushka Samaratunga took a matchbag of ten wickets and completed one hundred wickets for the current season to help Isipatana College beat Zahira College outright by three wickets in their inter school under 19 cricket tournament match which concluded at Maradana yesterday.

Zahira: 160 and 190 (M. Ishan 23, M. Imraz 67, A. Bohoran 56, A. Samaratunga 6 for 69, D. Sulochana 2 for 41).

Isipatana: 221 (D. Perera 37, D. Warapitiya 63, T. Ranasinghe 34, C. Jayanetti 20, T. Sulochana 23, M. Ishan 2 for 46, I. Mohamed 2 for 41, M. Imraz 2 for 45, M. Nafiz 2 for 10) and 133 for 8 (N. Sasanka 50, C. Waduge 21 n.o, I. Mohamed 3 for 78).

Joes-Thomians in a draw

Two splendid half centuries from Enrico Silva (72) and Jaan Jayasinghe (74) helped St. Joseph's College pile up 284 for 9 and take first innings honours over S. Thomas' College in their 106th annual inter school under 19 cricket tournament match which ended in a draw at Mount Lavinia yesterday.

S. Thomas': 192 and 224 for 5 (P. Wijewardena 42, N. Kavinda 77, A. Fernando 61 n.o, D. Dhambarage 2 for 13).

St. Joseph's: 284 for 9 decl (E. Silva 72, J. Jayasinghe 74, C. Kumara 35, C. Pathirana 2 for 34, I. Fernando 4 for 52, L. Peiris 2 for 54).

Antonians take major honours

St. Anthony's College recovered from last week's setback to take major honours in their inter school under 19 cricket tournament match against Ananda College which ended in a draw at Ananda Mawatha yesterday.

St. Anthony's: 212 and 162 for 9 decl (H. Wickremasinghe 37, A. Riyal 33, A. Premaratne 26, M. Rasuwan 4 for 64, S. Perera 4 for 69).

Ananda: 198 (U. Nadiranga 55, M. Rasuwan 33, R. Sharmen 34, A. Riyal 3 for 84, E. Seneviratne 4 for 41, S. Liyanage 2 for 32) and 60 for 5 (U. Nadiranga 27).

Nalanda dominates

A fine all round performance from Nipun Karunanayake helped Nalanda College dominate the opening days play in their inter school under 19 cricket tournament match against Thurstan College which began at Campbell Place yesterday.

Thurstan: 164 (U. Munasinghe 56, K. Tharindu 24, S. Salgado 25, S. Gunawardena 3 for 45, N. Karunanayake 4 for 28).

Nalanda: 184 for 8 (P. Wickremasinghe 31, N. Karunanayake 57, R. Wijewickrema 4 for 25, P. Arthavindu 2 for 19).
