Seylan, Unichela victories put them to semis
Mahela Udawatte (Unichela) and Ian Daniel (Seylan Bank) logged the
lime-light with sparkling centuries to steer their teams into the
semi-finals of the 17th Singer-MCA Premier League knock-out, in their
quarter-finals games yesterday.
Udawatte's blistering 144 in 146 balls, inclusive of 16 fours and 04
sixes, gave Unichela a convincing 59-runs win over John Keells. Udawatte
and Prasanna Jayawardena (55) put on 125 runs for the 4th wicket to prop
Unichela to a daunting total of 333 for 7 in 50-overs.
Ian Daniel scored his 2nd century for the season with an elegant 169
runs in 139 balls with 15 fours and 10 sixes to guide Seylan Bank to a
32 runs win over HNB. Daniel partnered by Lasith Fernando (48) put on
135-runs for 4th wicket, helping Seylan Bank to a challenging 290 for 8
in 50 overs.
