Metropolitan Office Pvt Ltd was awarded a best corporate citizen award by the Colombo Municipal Council Mayor Omar Kamil for being among the top private sector companies to settle taxes on time in 2009.

"The Colombo Municipal Council can develop and beautify the city as well as improve the services to the public only if its citizens and corporates pay taxes on time", said Mayor Omar Kamil at the event.

The reward and recognition scheme introduced by the Municipality is one initiative to encourage companies to settle their dues to the CMC on time.

As an initial step, the CMC has selected top 100 tax paying citizens and corporations over the last five year period and presented awards in recognition of their support to the development of the city.

Among the top 100 citizens and corporates are the highest tax paying companies and individuals over the last five years as well. In order to facilitate and encourage more citizens to pay their taxes on time, the CMC has taken an innovative step in introducing tax payments through credit cards.
