Heshan Unamboowe - wins 'Best Sportsman of the Year' Award at

TRINITY PRIZE GIVING: Trinity College and Sri Lanka's swimming star
Heshan Unamboowe was adjudged the 'Best Sportsman of the Year' and
awarded the Ananda Madena Memorial Trophy at the colours award ceremony
which formed part of the Prize Giving at Trinity College held at the
College Hall in Kandy on Friday evening.
Former Vice-Chancellor of the Sabaragamuwa University Prof. I.K.
Perera was the chief guest and he distributed the awards with Mrs.
Perera. Sri Lanka under 19 cricketer and last year's captain Rushan
Jaleel was adjudged the Best Cricketer of the Year, special prizes were
also won by Dilan Gangoda (batting), Rushan Jaleel (bowling), Suresh
Wickrema (fielding), Akila Jayasundera (Best Allrounder).
Kennan Armstrong was adjudged the 'Best Ruggerite of the Year' and
awarded the Harry M Goonetillake prize.
Special prizes in swimming were also awarded to W.M.M. Perera, P.B.
Wanigasekera, S.K.A. Hulangamuwa, H.B. Unamboowe, L.O. Senaviratne, U.S.
Dodantenna, V.G. Atipola, N. Diyakelinawela, D.Karunaratne, W.C.C.
Perera. The award for Games Allround Excellence went to D. Aluwihare and
awarded the A.H. Joseph Challenge Cup.
The open award for athletics went to M. Saleemdeen and the senior
award to this sport was won by R.M.G.M.T. Ratnayake respectably. The
Duncan White award was won by M. Saleemdeen for his outstanding
performances, Special awards were also made to D.I.R. Perera, M.T.
Galearachchi, J.C. Fernando, A.K.B. Dissanayake, A.K.B. Weerakoon,
W.N.I.T. Weerakoon, G. Wickremasinghe, W.M.S. Wijekoon and M.P.
Hettiarachchi.
In hockey the Special Award and the Most Outstanding Players Award
went to M. Lakshan Shan and S. Sudharshan respectively.
