Sanduni Jayasuriya - determined to keep improving



Sanduni Chamodya Jayasuriya of St. Anthony’s Convent, Katugastota who won the 75 metres event for Sri Lanka Athletic Academy in Chennai. Sanduni also came third in the 100 metres and was a member of the 4x100 metres relay team.

ATHLETICS: For a 11-year-old Sanduni Chamodya Jayasuriya of St. Anthony’s Convent, Katugastota the outcome of the duel athletic meet between Sri Lanka Athletic Academy and Chennai Athletic Academy, India held at the Sri Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium recently was more than satisfying.

The determined Sanduni won the 75 metres for the Sri Lanka Athletic Academy team and she went further by taking third place in the 100 metres event. She was also a member of the 4x100 metres relay team that won the event.

Coming from the rural area of Ankumbura in the Kandy District, she is a determined little girl who is keen on her athletics career.

She has already won the 75 metres and 100 metres events in her age group at the Kandy zonal meet and hopes to keep on improving her timings in the events.
