Corporal Niroshini Hemanthi became the first woman soldier to qualify as a sky diver at Uva Kuda Oya, Thanamanvila Commando Training Camp. She received her parachute divers medal from the chief guest Major General Shavindra Silva, Director Operations, SL Army at the passing out parade of Army parachutists yesterday. More fatal road accidents


Several persons have been killed on our highways during the past few weeks following motor accidents according to media reports from the Police Media Division. The victims include pedestrians, motor cycle riders, schoolchildren, and women pillion riders. Hardly a day goes by without something tragic on our highways being reported in our newspapers. These accidents have been reported from all corners of the country.
