Ouch! Weatherman left low in pecking order

A zookeeper restrains a pelican after it attacked TODAY weatherman Steve Jacobs

A weather presenter has become the butt of his colleagues’ jokes and a hit on YouTube after a pelican bit his backside while the camera was rolling. Steve Jacobs was presenting a weather report at Sydney’s Taronga Zoo for Channel 9 when the big-beaked bird took a dislike to him.

The aggressive bird called Marnie lunged at the presenter and pecked at his clothes.

Jacobs tried to keep broadcasting but Marnie went for him again leaving him screaming and cowering in a corner. The pelican was eventually led away by a member of staff while the presenter collapsed in a heap laughing.

Jacobs wasn’t hurt but did have to endure some teasing.

Seoul shoe snatcher caught

Just some of the stolen shoes waiting to be reclaimed

Police in Seoul eventually caught up with the 59-year-old shoe snatcher known only as Park - but not before he had nabbed more than 1,200 pricey pairs. Park took full advantage of the Korean custom of removing outdoor footwear before entering a building, especially funeral home.

He disguised himself as a mourner, took off his own shoes, and then left in a more expensive pair.

His ploy was uncovered when police caught him stealing three pairs of shoes with a retail value of more than £1,000. They raided his warehouse and were astonished to find more than 1,000 pairs of shoes set out ready for resale. Police have now invited his victims to come forward and reclaim their cherished shoes.

Who ate all the carrots?

Massive rabbit Ralph tips the scales at three stone and is hoping to get his paws on a Guinness World Record. The Continental Giant is only 12 months old but already weighs the same amount as a three year old child and is four foot long.

His owner Pauline Grant from Uckfield, East Sussex says he can munch his way through £10 of food a day. His favourites are Weetabix, water biscuits, apples, carrots, cabbages, toast, sweetcorn and huge bowls of rabbit food.

Mrs Grant’s still awaiting confirmation of Ralph’s record breaking weight but it appears big is in his blood - his late mother Amy is the current title holder. Ralph’s dad Roberto is also a previous record holder and had to sleep on a dog’s bed because he was too big for a hutch.
