UPFA campaign for two-third majority

The UPFA has issued guidelines to its district leaders on how to conduct a successful election campaign to get a two-third majority at the forthcoming parliamentary elections on April 8.

General Secretary of the UPFA Susil Premajayanth told the 'Sunday Observer' that their main target was to achieve the two-third majority and instructions were issued to prepare the ground for it.

"This election would be significant and would set an example. The UPFA wants it to be 100 percent free and fair", he said. He said that the UPFA's nominations and National List were completed on Friday." All district leaders have been instructed on how to reach the target - a two-third majority of their own districts", he said.

Meanwhile, the UPFA candidates made a pledge before President Mahinda Rajapaksa to commit themselves to lead a political campaign for a free and fair election on April 8.
