Petes defeat Trinity 38 -10, win sevens title

RUGBY: St. Peter's College put up a tremendous performance to beat
Trinity College Kandy by 38 points to 10 points in the All Island Inter
School Under-19 seven a side rugby tournament Cup final played at the
Royal Sports Complex ground in Reid Avenue yesterday.
The Peterites maintained their impressive record throughout the
tournament and collected their points from four goals and two tries
after having led 19-5 at half time. The Trinitians managed to score only
two tries.
Earlier in the semifinals St. Peter's College trounced S. Thomas'
College Mount Lavinia by a convincing margin of 39 points to 7 points
while Trinity College overcame Ananda College 41-0 in a one sided
encounter.
In the quarterfinals St. Peter's College edged out Kingswood College
Kandy 17-12 in a close fixture while Trinity College outplayed their
home town rivals Dharmaraja College 26- nil.
In the other two quarterfinals of the Cup Championship S. Thomas'
College defeated their traditional rivals Royal College 10 - 0 and
Ananda College had the better of Mahanama College 17 - 0. Meanwhile
Royal College Panadura clinched the Bowl title when they defeated St.
John's College by 31 points to nil in the final. Wesley College took the
Plate title with a rousing 38 points to nil win over St. Sylvester's
College Kandy.
The Wesleyites had the better of D. S. Senanayake College 22 -5 while
the Sylvestrians defeated S. Thomas' College Bandarawela 29- 0 in the
two semifinals.
