Warehouses for fruit, other products

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Ministry of Urban and Sacred Area Development and the Globaltec Company, Spain to construct three ultra modern warehouses at Galewela, Dambulla and Hambantota under Mahinda Chinthana concept to preventthe wastage of fruits, vegetables, paddy and other agricultural products on the request of Urban and Sacred Area Development Minister Dinesh Gunawardane. The MoU was signed at the Ministry recently.

The ‘MoU’ was signed by Vice Chairman of the Globaltec Company-Spain on behalf of the company Manual Valves and the Secretary to the Ministry Dr. P. Ramanujam and the Chairman of Peliyagoda Warehouse Complex Company on behalf of the Peliyagoda Warehouse Complex Company.

The Cabinet has already approved the Cabinet paper tabled by Minister Dinesh Gunawardane on this project.

The total project will cost 60 euro million the Minister replied to a question raised by a mediaman at a conference held at the Ministry.

The project will be completed in 2011.
