Minister Welgama predicts two - thirds majority for UPFA

When the General Election is held on April 8 nobody should be surprised that the country will give a two thirds majority to the governing party (UPFA) while in the Kalutara district the UPFA will win seven out of 10 seats, said Industrial Development Minister and Chief UPFA organiser in Kalutara district Kumara Welgama.

He was addressing a gathering at the Matugama auditorium recently.

He said that the General Election is being held in a peaceful and independent environment. The whole country now enjoys freedom, he said.

The Minister said the Government has been able to establish a peaceful environment for the voters to decide on their choice and vote accordingly.

He said during the Presidential Election the President’s hands were strengthened by the confidence reposed by the voters of Sri Lanka. The two third majority in Parliament is required for him to carry on all the new projects without any obstacles.

The Minister also thanked the activists who are engaged day and night to obtain the majority.

Matugama Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Meril Munasinghe, Madurawala PS Chairman P. Seela Wickrema and Attorney-at-law J. Perera also spoke.
