JVP deviates from its principles and policies

Senior leaders of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) said that the party is deviating from their principles and policies.

The JVP had harnessed its strength and resources to ensure its victory.

Colombo District Democratic National Alliance (DNA) candidate and JVP ex-parliamentarian Sunil Hadunnetti said that they too are canvassing for preferential votes since they are contesting under a political alliance. We followed this policy even at the 1994 general election, he said.

DNA Matara District Candidate and former JVP parliamentarian Jinadasa Kithulegoda said that they cannot go against the prevailing practice of canvassing for preferential votes.

Referring to the present political situation in the Matara district, he said that the DNA is confident of winning more than three seats in the district.
