Chameera best windsurfer at Tissa

Chameera Gunawardene, Priyantha Gunawardene and Chaminda Kumara Silva won their respective Windsurfing events on the second day of the fifth annual Carlton Super Sports Festival organised by the Tharunyata Hetak Organisation and worked off in Tissamaharama yesterday.

T.T.B Kodithuwakku of the Sri Lanka Navy Water Sports Club, K.G.C.U.S Bandara of the Navy water sports club and A.M.J.P Aththanayake of the Navy water sports club won the Laser car events respectively. The Navy was the sole participant in this event.

These events are organized by the Water Sports Association headed by Former National Windsurfing Champion Thusal Gunewardene. Speaking to the Press, Gunawardena thanked Namal Rajapaksa who heads the Tharunyata Hetak Organization. He said that Namal had done a yeoman service in taking sports to the provinces aimed at giving rural talent the chance to compete and make a name for themselves.

Sri Lanka Army, President Security Divisions 1,2 and 3 Sri Lanka Artillery Regiment, Raddoluwa Udara Sports Club and Sri Lanka Police team participated in the tug-of-War event.

The sportsman Buddhika Rambukwella who is seeking for a Guiness World Record by driving a vehicle handcuffed and using his legs to drive the vehicle to distance of 902 kilometers. He commenced his record breaking drive from Jaffna on Thursday and hope establish the record by ending his journey in Tissamaharama. Geethanjana Mendis (Sri Lanka Sports Ministry Medical Unit) serve as the judge for this event record.

The race of Unity Tour of Sri Lanka reached Tissamaharama yesterday. This Cycle Race is themed on binding the people of the North and South together.

Today's festival events are Cycling, Motor Races, Tug-of-War, Dog Show and Defence Services Exhibition.

1. T.T.B Kodituwakku (Navy), 2. K.G.C.U.S Bandara (Navy), 3. A.M.J.P Attanayake (Navy).

Windsurfing:

1. Chameera Gunawardene (Aluthgama Kaluwa Modara Water Sports Club), 2. Priyantha Gunawardene (Aluthgama Kaluwa Modara Water Sports Club), 3. Chaminda Kumara Silva (Aluthgama Kaluwa Modara Water Sports Club).

Enterprise class :

1. W.P Krishan Janake and W.A.R Nishantha (Navy water sports club), 2. J.M.P.L Jayasuriya and K.W.G.A Danushaka (Navy water sports club), 3. W.M.C Marabe and B.M.M Bandara (Navy water sports club).
