Lakshman de Alwis Memorial Junior Athletic Meet April 3

ATHLETIC: Avikans Sports Club which is a club dealing with athletics will conduct the Lakshman de Alwis Memorial Junior Athletic Championships on April 3 at Moratu Vidyalaya grounds.

This meet is being conducted as a mark of respect to the late Lakshman de Alwis who was killed in a bomb explosion at Weliweriya while officiating in a marathon race. Lakshman de Alwis was the former National Athletic coach of Sri Lanka and was considered as the best athletic coach in Sri Lanka in recent times.

He was a product of Moratu Maha Vidyalaya. At the meet organised for April 3 girls and boys under the age group of 15 years will participate. There will be events for boys and girls under 7, 9, 11, 13 and 15.
