NP committees for service increments

Five committees have been appointed in the Northern Province to evaluate and implement the service increments of public servants in the Province, according to the Northern Province Governor Maj. Gen. G.A. Chandrasiri.

"A committee was appointed in each district in the Province and the final reports will be submitted shortly. And we will be able to implement the recommendations of the committees with granting the due service increments for the public servants in the Province," Governor Chandrasiri said.

"The process must follow the established rules and regulations of the Government in giving such increments and is a highly time consuming exercise especially in the Northern Province since its Public Administration was largely disturbed in the past few years due to LTTE activities," said the Governor.

Adhering strictly to the regulations set by the Government the Northern Province issues its circulars in all three languages - Sinhala, Tamil and English, said Maj. Gen. G.A. Chandrasiri totally denying the false accusations raised by trade unions as stated in news reports last week.

The Governor denied the accusation that the circulars have not been sent in Tamil.
